More privisualization continues! The team met again last night, this time also joined by long time friend and collaborator John Pilgrim. John and have worked together on each of my previous movies, handling both visual effects and color correction. Since our last meeting I have taken the hand drawn storyboards and the mannequins to create our first animatic. This covers the first two scenes and serves to give us an initial idea as how the movie will be staged and paced. The animatic is a massively helpful tool as we can easily try new shots and tweak edits. We can essentially make the entire movie in animatic form before the first day of actual shooting. After all, failing to prepare is preparing to fail. Or, as the TSA’s motto appears on my pilot’s liscense: “Safety in no accident. It must be planned.”
